Interview
Here is an interview with a Best Buy employe who shared his thoughts and ideas on communication and how it has changed throughout time.
1. What is the most popular form of communication?
I believe cell phones are the most popular form of communication because most people in the world have cell phones and use them each day.
2. What are some recent improvements in communication ( in the last 3 or 4 years)?
Some recent improvements in communication would have to be the usage of smart phones and touch screen phones.
3. How would you say communication is going to keep improving in the next 10 years?
I think communication will never stop improving because we just have such advanced technology that is phenomenal and ever changing. I also predict that in the future we might even have a way to communicate with a tool that is even more advanced than a smart phone.
4. Do you believe that the use of letters are slowly starting to disappear due to more people using internet and emails as oppose to traditional mail.
Yes, I do believe this is true because it is simpler to send an email to someone that is received in a matter of seconds, as opposed to a letter that might take days to be received and then more days to get a response back.
5. How often do you buy and read the newspaper (traditional one)
I personally do not buy a newspaper, but instead log on to the newspaper's website and check out the latest news.
6. What is the best way to keeping touch with friends that are far away?
I believe that the best way would through social media web sites such as Facebook and Twitter. These are great sites to use because you can access them almost anywhere through your smartphone, computers, and tablets and talk to your friends thousands of miles away instantly and free. Personally I use it all the time.
7. How many hours would you say you are on the computer in one day?
I would say I am on the computer anywhere between 7-8 hours daily. My job requires me to spend a great amount of time on the computer but this time is both form my job as well as personal uses.
8. How many hours do you spend on your phone daily?
I spend anywhere from 3-4 hours using my smartphone using it for calls, text, emails, and social networking sites.
9. Would you say that having a phone or computer is crucial now a days.
Yes, I would say that having a phone or computer is crucial now a days because personally if I don't have my computer or cell phone with me one day, I feel totally disconnected from the outside world and everything that is going on around me.
10. Do you believe that more people are using the internet as a means of entertainment and a way to find out about news as oppose to the television?
I both agree and disagree with this because although the internet is faster and easier, people like myself would rather comfortably watch a show or the news from their television.
